Combivir (generic name: lamivudine, zidovudine; brand names include: Duovir) is used, alone or with other medicines, to slow down the progression of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. If you miss a dose of Combivir by more than 4 hours, wait and then take the next dose at the regularly scheduled time. However, if you miss a dose by less than 4 hours, take your missed dose immediately. Then take your next dose at the regularly scheduled time. Do not take more or less than your prescribed dose of Combivir at any one time.
Combivir tablets may be stored at room temperature and do not require refrigeration.
Combivir Precautions
Before taking Combivir, tell your doctor if:
you are allergic to lamivudine, zidovudine, or any other medications;
you taking Epivir, Epivir HBV, Retrovir, or Trizivir, as they also contain lamivudine and zidovudine;
you have kidney problems;
you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding.
